PKN ORLEN has been participating in the cultural, scientific and sporting life of Płock for many years. On 1 June 2007, representatives of the Company and local self-government concluded the Memorandum of Understanding, by virtue of which the Parties undertook to act effectively and in harmony for the benefit of the inhabitants of the town, and PKN ORLEN declared its support for local projects.
PKN ORLEN, as a donor to the Grant Fund for Płock Foundation, supported activities of local non-governmental institutions. The operations of the Foundation promote awareness of social responsibility among businesses in Płock and its surroundings, and thus provide new standards of cooperation between business and non-governmental organisations.
The Płocki Park Przemysłowo-Technologiczny, established on the initiative of PKN ORLEN and self-government authorities, is a place for the development of modern technologies. This enormous undertaking will be a key factor in the development of Płock in the near future, bringing real benefi ts to its inhabitants. The Company, using operating methods developed in Płock, as the owner of the Storage Facility in Ostrów Wielkopolski, also provides financial support to the Association “Good Neighbourhood Grant Fund for Ostrów Wielkopolski” operating in Ostrów.
Support of local education is one of PKN ORLEN’s priorities. The Company has been cooperating with the Warsaw University of Technology and the School of Social and Technical Sciences in Płock for many years. Simultaneously, the Company is involved in the promotion of professional sport in Płock by sponsoring the club’s handball teams and football teams and the ORLEN Polish Open International Tennis Tournament for Handicapped Persons.
