In 2007 PKN ORLEN distributed products with the use of 232 km of its own pipelines and 570 km of the product pipelines belonging to the national operator, PERN Przyjaźń. The Company plans to start up another of its own pipeline section of 105 km on the Ostrów Wielkopolski – Wrocław route. The share of pipeline transport in the structure of fuel transport in Poland amounted to 68.9 percent in 2007, i.e. nearly 2 percent higher more in 2006. In 2007, AB Mažeikių Nafta used 91 km of raw material pipeline between the maritime terminal in Butynga and the refi nery plant in Mažeikiai. The 225 km raw material pipeline on the Połock–Mažeikiai route will not be used, owing to its renovation in the territory of Russia.
Storage Facilities
In Poland, PKN ORLEN SA used in total 23 storage facilities, of which 13 were its own facilities (11 facilities functioning in trading + 2 reloading facilities) and the remaining facilities were leased from Operator Logistyczny Paliw Płynnych (5 facilities), Regional Market Operators (4 facilities) and IVG (currently: TanQuid) (1 facility).
Rail Transport
The volume of domestic transport carried out by PKN ORLEN SA in 2007 amounted to approximately 5.3 million tonnes and was approximately 11 percent higher than in 2006. The share of the Company’s own transport in overall rail transport fi gures in 2007 was 40 percent, reaching 2.13 million tonnes, appr. 0.55 million tonnes more than in 2006.
Maritime Cargo Handling
In 2007, PKN ORLEN SA carried out maritime cargo handling in ports in Gdynia, Świnoujście and Dębogórze, through which it transported around 537 thousand tonnes of engine fuels and 620 thousand
tonnes of non-fuel products, mainly heavy heating oil. The total volume of products reloaded in 2007 by PKN ORLEN in Polish maritime ports was two times higher than in 2006.
