Sales of petrochemicals

„In 2013, we took full advantage of the market conditions and consolidated our position as a regional leader in petrochemical production and sales. However, this positive trend was accompanied by varying performance on our markets. With a forecast continuous rise in demand for petrochemicals in our region, we take steps to further develop the Group’s potential for value growth.

At present, our focus is to increase production at key units and improve operating efficiency.”

– said Piotr Chełmiński
Członek Zarządu ds. Petrochemii

Sales by volume recorded by the Group’s petrochemical business were down 1.2% year on year.

Sales of PTA and plastics improved. However, fertiliser sales decreased in volume terms as a result of discontinuation of fertilizer production at the Unipetrol Group in late 2012, production stoppages at Spolana a.s. caused by floods which occurred in the Czech Republic in mid-2013, as well as an emergency stoppage of the ammonia unit at ANWIL S.A. in August 2013.
